Your
vote is your voice! Every election is important!
"All politics is local," said Tip O’Neil – the Speaker of the
House who
fended off Reagan’s attack on the New Deal. And nowhere is
that saying
more true than in Hoboken! For over a hundred years, a vigorous
Democratic tradition of public awareness and civic participation
has been a Hoboken
tradition, true indeed for all of Hudson County. In a large measure
because of the enthusiastic Hudson voters, New Jersey has a Democratic
Governor and a newly-elected Democratic US Senator, John Corzine and Robert
Menendez
both Hoboken residents. Over the last twenty years, Bob Menendez
represented Hoboken as an Assemblyman, a State Senator, and a
Congressman.
If you live in Hoboken, it’s important that you register to vote
here. If
you vote in the national elections, it’s important to get
involved in the
local elections, too. Local government is the foundation of
Democracy and
the crucible of our nation’s future leaders.

The Importance of Just One Vote
"My one litte vote won't make a difference."
- By a margin of just one vote, Texas, California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho became states.
- England's King Charles I literally lost his head when the vote to behead him was 67 against and 68 for. The ax fell thanks to one vote.
- The Alaska Purchase in 1867 was ratified by just one vote, enabling the creation of America's largest state.
